Virginia and Troy Tate were both on the Why Fi label and both this release and A Bao A Qu (Virginia's debut 10" EP) were released at the same time.

Virginia provided vocals for the title track Lifeline (Hold On To That) on this release which also featured Jo Wells (sax), David Balfe (keyboards), Rolo McGinty (bass) and Ali Paterson (drums, percussion).

Lifeline recorded at Rockfield Studios August 1981.

Lifeline was released while both Troy and Virginia were on tour. Troy as bassist with The Teardrop Explodes and Virginia as part of The Ravishing Beauties, who were supporting the Teardrops at the time.
