Comments: For me, the definitive Virginia Astley song is, "A Summer
Long Since Passed." Although I found it rather late (in
1987) in college. Hope all is indeed well, and that more is
coming from you soon! God Bless.

Comments: Finding old loves always makes me shiver. Never thought
possible to buy the old "From gardens..." in 2004 and
experiment the same joy I did almost 20 years ago.

Comments: You have probably have been asked this question more times
than you can shake a stick at,
but is there any chance of us ever hearing again the
BRILLIANT complete BBC Ravishing Beauties sessions?
I was very lucky to have captured three and one third
tracks in stereo on my then new Sony Professional TCD5M
cassette recorder whilst trying the machine
out one evening and having latched onto a broadcast on the
John Peel show.
I Emailed John at the BBC a couple of years ago on this
subject but got no reply to my enquiry.
It would be great IF, the master tapes still exist to have
these superb works released on a CD.

Comments: Have had "Hope in a Darkened Heart" in several forms over
the years (LP originally, CD that was stolen when my apt
was burgled, and another CD that a dear friend found for
me). One of my favorite "desert island" albums of all
time. I finally saw "from gardens where we feel secure" on
a website and bought it immediately. I heard if for the
first time this morning - it is also a very lovely piece of
work. Thanks for the wonderful music Virgina! (PS, I also
have Pete's "All the Best Cowboys Have Chinese Eyes" and
appreciate your pianistic contribution there as well.) I
hope you release some more sublime music soon!

Comments: I've been a fan since '82 (seems like a lifetime ago now!)
but some of my fondest memories are from the summer of '83
in Corsham, Wiltshire, where at the time I was living. We
were blessed with a beautiful summer that year, made more
so by the release of what has become one of the all time
classic records..From gardens where we feel secure. I
played it endlessly, and even today it still enchants me.

Comments: Well, what can I say? To me, two songs stand out from
Virginia's achingly beautiful music: With My Eyes Wide Open
I'm Dreaming and A Summer Long Since Past. These are indeed
so powerful that every time I listen to them I can't fight
the tears. Do they have that effect on any of you? Thanks
for reading.

Comments: hoi jongens,

what a suprise to find this spot on the net,
congratulations to us all for the rerelease of From
gardens, I still own a vinyl copy, but it's gettin worse
every year. altough i seem to be the only one up here who
enjoys the record, my friend falls asleep hearing it
(altough that might be a compliment), i'm glad new people
are able to here from it once again.

the "swing" on the record can sent anyone who swung (?) in
their childhood up in heaven again. My swing was in the
garage, from wich i could see the road passing by our
house. Stangely this moment come back as weel with the song
on and on by paul weller.

gotta get beack to work, gonne visit soon again

Comments: I was so happy to find that From Gardens has been released
on CD. I had it on vinyl many years ago and must have sold
it once CD's came into the market. Listening to the CD now
and it brings back many memories. And it sounds just as
fresh today! What a nice thing to hear during the middle
of winter. Thanks, Virginia! Hope to hear many new things
in the future.

Comments: visited your site just to say how gorgeous the album 'in
gardens where we feel secure' is. i've been listening to
the re-issue over the xmas period...i was too young to buy
the original 83 release but i did also buy a record player
recently and rediscovered what a beautiful track 'darkness
has reached its end' is...i bought the 12" when i was just
15...having not heard it for so many years it quickly
became my christmas song over the festive period...
much respect for such beautiful timeless music...
